The big five-o

I turn 50 this year. And I'm looking forward to it.

Turning 40 was full of trepidation. All that middle age thing was a bit apprehensive. But now, after 10 years of it, it ain't so bad after all. I've got my teeth and my hair, still. And I've gotten impatient with idiots. But I figure it's OK to be impatient with idiots.

And now I can't wait for 50. I'll have every licence to be Crazy Dog Lady and/or Cranky Old Lady. And the leeway to be impatient with both idiots and somewhat non-idiots.

What I didn't expect until vague travel plans with a friend firmed up suddenly last week was that I'll be turning 50 somewhere in the skies. Depending on what timezone you're using as a base, when March turns into April, I will turn 50 in the air while descending into Hong Kong. Or somewhere between Hong Kong and Osaka. In anycase, I leave Singapore a sprightly 49, and return 50 some 9 days later. It will be spring in Japan then, and I expect cherry blossoms to see me into my half-century.

I can't think of a more exciting way to turn 50!
